This Privacy Policy explains how Wordo ("the app", "we", "us") handles information when you use the Wordo iOS application — a word-guessing game.

The short version. Wordo has no account and does not collect your name. Your scores, stats and settings stay on your device. The optional AI features send the text you type and the current word to our backend to generate words and hints. We use Firebase Cloud Messaging for notifications, AppsFlyer to measure which ad brought you to the app, and Adapty to manage subscriptions. The game plays the same whether or not you allow tracking.

1. Information we process

a. AI word & hint generation

The "AI topic" and "Smart hint" features are optional. When you use them, the app sends our backend — a Cloudflare Worker that forwards to the AI provider Groq — the topic text you type, or the current word and the letters you have guessed, along with your chosen language. This is used only to generate puzzle content and is not linked to your identity. Built-in categories play fully offline and send no requests.

b. Game data on your device

Your scores, win streaks, level and XP, achievements, game history and settings are stored only on your device. "Reset statistics" in Settings clears them.

c. Text-to-speech

"Hear the word" uses Apple's on-device speech synthesis. No text is sent to us for this feature.

d. Push notifications — Firebase Cloud Messaging

If you allow notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging assigns your installation a push token so we can send reminders and updates. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings.

e. Attribution & advertising measurement — AppsFlyer

We use AppsFlyer to understand which marketing campaign led to your install. AppsFlyer processes device identifiers and install/session events. If you grant tracking permission, this may include the Apple Advertising Identifier (IDFA).

f. Subscriptions & onboarding — Adapty

We use Adapty to present the onboarding/paywall and manage subscription state. Adapty processes purchase events and device information needed to validate and restore purchases. Payments themselves are handled by Apple.

g. Ratings

"Rate the app" uses Apple's standard in-app review prompt. We do not receive your review or any identifying information from it.

h. Diagnostics

We may receive aggregated crash and performance data to keep the app stable.

2. App Tracking Transparency

iOS asks your permission before the app can track you across other apps and websites. If you deny, AppsFlyer will not use the IDFA. Wordo plays exactly the same either way — no feature is gated behind it. You can change this any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

  • To send notifications you have opted into.
  • To measure the effectiveness of our marketing.
  • To manage subscriptions and the paywall.
  • To keep the app secure and stable.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Data retention

Data on your device remains until you reset statistics or delete the app. AI requests are processed transiently to produce a response. Data held by our providers follows their standard retention periods.

6. Children

Wordo is intended for a general audience aged 13 and older and is not directed at children under 13. Because the AI features accept free-text topics and return AI-generated content, they are not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Your choices

  • Notifications — turn off in iOS Settings.
  • Tracking — deny or revoke in iOS Settings.
  • Stay offline — play built-in categories and skip the AI features; that data never leaves your device.
  • Game data — "Reset statistics" in the app's Settings.
  • Requests — email us with any privacy question or to request deletion of data associated with your device.

8. Security

Requests to our backend are sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the limited data we process.

9. International users

Our providers may process data on servers outside your country. By using Wordo you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest version. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
